CURIOSITIES BOLOGNA
Among the many names including “dotta”, “turrita”, “rossa”, Bologna is also called "la grassa" for its important culinary tradition famous throughout the world: if you think of the main delicacies of the city, you can not forget the tortellini, lasagne, tagliatelle bolognese, the classic “ragù” and mortadella. These typical products are a real cultural heritage, and this is why the city of Bologna has been awarded by UNESCO the title of City of food. This cultural heritage is so important for the city that traditional recipes were deposited by the Italian Academy of Cuisine in the fourteenth-century Palazzo della Mercanzia. In this building are jealously guarded in fact all the official recipes of the dishes that reflect our flavors and scents that have won the oblivion of time with the intent to preserve and make known a heritage that distinguishes us in the world.

Between food and culture
Our Boutique Hotel in the center of Bologna certainly enjoys an optimal location, a stone’s throw from the main places of ancient Bolognese gastronomy. From Piazza Maggiore, in fact, from which our building is a few meters, you can reach not only Palazzo della Mercanzia, but also all the most important streets of the city and immerse yourself in the meaning of "Bologna la Grassa". For example, within the area of the "Quadrilatero" formed by a maze of narrow streets, including Via Orefici, Via Drapperie and Via Clavature, you can come across traditional shops, taverns and very characteristic places: very famous among the shops are certainly Atti, Simoni and Tamburini, while the most famous tavern in the historic center is definitely "the Osteria del Sole".

The latter, founded in 1465, is the oldest in Bologna and is frequented by students, tourists, but also by many Bolognese who love to immerse themselves in its traditional atmosphere. The peculiarity of the tavern is that it welcomes you by making you sit in convivial tables and offers only traditional wine, if you want to combine the wine to good food you have to go to food shopping and bring "packed" the aperitif. So, tourists, students and many Bolognese walk through the streets of the center buying crescent and mortadella and then head to the Osteria with their precious food to taste it accompanied by good wine and laughter.
